1. What is a BTEC?
A BTEC Intermediate level is an academic qualification equivalent
to a GCSE. It is accredited by EdExcel , the UK’s
largest awarding body, providing academic and vocational
qualifications to more than 25,000 places of learning here,
and in over 100 countries worldwide. In the UK, EdExcel
offers qualifications and testing in more than 24,000 schools,
450 further education colleges, more than 80 higher education
institutions, 600 public and private sector employers and,
increasingly, e-learning providers. EdExcel will verify
the quality of the course and its delivery.
2. What are the benefits?
You will receive a structured course from a fully trained
instructor who is qualified and registered with a2om. You
will be periodically assessed throughout the learning process
to allow you to progress at a pace that is right for you.
On successful completion of the course you will receive
a BTEC Intermediate Award in Driving Science which is an
equivalent to a GCSE. You can add this to your CV which
will not only provide evidence to future employers of your
driving ability but also your keenness to strive for a proven
level of skill, aptitude and attitude.
3. How much will it cost me?
With the current introductory offer it costs the student
£150 to register for the BTEC course. However insurance
companies are so impressed with the course that they will
offer discounts on insurance that could significantly offset
this fee. Included in the fee is a unique e-learning based
lesson support system. Students can access will be able
to access this on line in their own time and when recommended
by your instructor as part of the structured BTEC curriculum.
4. How many extra lessons will I need?
Everyone learns at a different pace. Because this course
is structured, you may not need more lessons even though
there is a module after you have passed your test. You should
be better prepared for your test and therefore save money
with retests. You will however be expected to access the
learning materials in your own time, and complete in car
and on line assessments.
5. Will it delay my starting to learn to drive?
Not at all. You should check with your instructor whether
he/she is registered to deliver the BTEC. If not, a2om can
recommend someone in your area.
6. Do I have to pass my test to qualify for my BTEC?
Yes. Passing the test will allow you to proceed onto unit
five of the course. Passing your test is just a part of
the process, and as you have had received structured learning
you should be better prepared and therefore more likely
to pass first time.
7. I am already learning. Can I take the BTEC or is it
too late?
No it is not too late, provided your instructor is registered
with and trained by a2om. Depending where you are in the
learning process you will be assessed accordingly and brought
into the process at the appropriate place. There will, however,
be no reduction in registration fee.
8. Will my lessons be more expensive?
Instructors who are qualified to deliver the BTEC are those
who are delivering a wider syllabus and a higher standard.
These instructors could be more expensive due to their quality,
but you need to remember that good structured training can
save you money in the long term and could save your life.
